How to use Touchline

Plan your week in the coach area, publish it, and send your players one link. They open it on any phone. No app to install and no account for players.

1. Get started

  1. Create your account. Go to Coach log in and choose Create account. During the beta you need the invite code you were sent.
  2. Stay logged in, or not. Tick Keep me logged in on your own phone or laptop and you stay logged in for 30 days. Leave it unticked on a shared computer: you're logged out after 12 hours without using Touchline, or when you close the browser. You can always log out from the Account card in Team week.
  3. Name your team. You'll be asked for it straight away, for example "Rovers U12". You can add more teams later.
  4. Open Team week. The gold button at the top right with your team's name is your coach area. Everything you send players starts there.

Want to look around first? Try the demo. It works without an account and saves only on your device.

2. The tools

The menu along the top has six tools. Anything with a + Week button can be added to this week's post for your players.

ToolWhat it's forSend to players?

CoachYour own board. Type a game plan in plain words and it becomes an animation, or drag players and the ball step by step and write an instruction for each step.Yes: save the play, press + Week
FitnessA 4-week return-to-fitness plan for each position, with an interval timer. For you: use it yourself or show players at training

3. Build this week's post

Open Team week. Every part of the post is optional: use only what you need.

  • Week and next match: a title, the opponent, date, kick-off, venue, home or away, and a message to the players.
  • Team sheet: add your squad once (number and first name, or paste a list), pick a formation, choose a player for each position, then set subs, captain, meet time and kit. Players marked Not available are only shown to coaches, never on the player page. The squad is remembered every week. Untick Include in this week's post if you don't want to send it.
  • Training and tactics: anything you added with + Week appears here. You can also pick a saved session or play from the lists, set the day, time and place for each training session, and add a note.

Your changes save automatically. The small dot next to "Team week" pulses gold while saving and goes back to teal when everything is saved.

4. Send it to players

  1. In the Publish card, press Publish & get link.
  2. Send the link: Copy link and paste it in your team's group chat, or Share… on a phone to pick WhatsApp or Messages directly. Players can also scan the QR code at training.
  3. Changed something? Press Update published week. The link stays the same, so players see the change straight away. You don't need to send it again.
  4. New week? Press Publish as a new week for a fresh link, or Start a new week to clear the plan and begin again. Your squad and formation are kept.

Published weeks lists every link you've sent, with how many times each has been viewed. From there you can copy a link again, edit that week, or delete it so the link stops working.

The team sheet has its own Copy for group chat button. It turns the line-up, meet time and kit into a text message you can paste anywhere.

5. What players see

Players open the link in their phone's browser. They see the match details, the team sheet, the training plan and any drills, tactics or plays, all animated. They don't need an account or an app, and nothing asks for their details.

To check a post before you send it, press Preview as player at the top of Team week.

6. Common jobs

Send just one drill

Drills → open the drill → + Week. Go to Team week, leave the match details empty, untick the team sheet, add a short message if you like, then Publish & get link.

Put the team sheet out for Saturday

Team week → fill in the match details → on the team sheet, pick a player for each position, then set subs, meet time and kit. Then Publish & get link, or Update published week if you've already sent this week's training.

Plan and send a training session

Sessions → start from a template or build your own → + Week. In Team week, set the day, time and place, then publish.

Show the team a tactic

Formations → pick your system and a phase → + Add to this week's post. For something specific to your next opponent, draw it in Coach, save it, then + Week.

7. Teams and assistant coaches

  • More teams: + Add team at the top of Team week. Tap a team's name to switch between them. Each team has its own squad, weeks and links.
  • Assistant coaches: in the Coaches card, enter their email and press Send invite. They can build and publish that team's week, and don't count towards your team limit.
  • Finished with a team? Archive it in My teams. You can restore it later.
  • Your plan: the Plan & billing card shows your plan, and is where you upgrade, add teams or cancel. See the refund and cancellation policy.

8. Keeping players safe

  • Use first names or nicknames only, never surnames. Anyone with a link can see what's in it.
  • Don't add photos, phone numbers, addresses, medical details or anything private about a player.
  • Send links only to your team's group, and delete old weeks you no longer need in Published weeks.
  • Worried about something you've seen? Use Report a concern at the bottom of any page. Read our safeguarding page for more.
